emerging leaders led by, leading like, AND leading More to Jesus

Our Passion

Developing emerging Christian leaders in the majority world.

Arrow Leadership

We are a global movement that began in the early 1990’s and has now spread to eleven locations worldwide. The founding purpose was simple – support the learning, development and connectedness of emerging leaders so they continue to develop the vision and strength for leadership in the 21st century.

“You teach a little by what you say.
You teach most by who you are.”

Henrietta Mears

A focus on international development

After witnessing the growth and impact of the Arrow over the past decade in Australasia, a group of passionate individuals gathered together to prayerfully consider a burning challenge: How could Arrow grow and develop in the Majority World to impact emerging Christian leaders?

In March 2017, Arrow Leadership International Development was established to set up and run fledgling Arrow programs. We grow by working with indigenous partners in new locations and in cooperation with the Arrow Community globally.

Our vision is for every emerging Christian leader to have the opportunity to develop their full missional potential.

Launch Arrow in your country

Why start a new Arrow?

Like never before, the church all around the world needs to raise up the next generation of leaders. Arrow has a proven history of helping emerging leaders to thrive and go the distance. Globally, over two thousand ministers, para-church workers, not-for-profit executives and missionaries have benefitted from the intentional formation of the Arrow program.

What do I need to start?

The most important ingredients for starting an Arrow program are a passion to develop leaders, the capacity to recruit volunteers, and an ability to organise. Please contact us via email or phone to begin the conversation. We will be delighted to hear from you and to discuss how we might best serve you.

What help can I get?

Arrow International will guide local leaders every step of the way as they establish what will ultimately be an indigenous leadership development program. We will provide a team to guide you through the first two years and one-on-one coaching for the eventual program director beyond that. You will also be able to access the Arrow resources from around the world, including those designed specifically for new programs.

How does it run?

Arrow is run over one to two years and involves between three and six residentials (each three to six days in length), up to ten peer group meetings, and a monthly mentoring conversation. Participants undertake reading in advance of each residential to ensure they are maximising their opportunities to learn. Because all training is face-to-face, participants benefit from life on life discipleship, as well as the camaraderie of a larger cohort. We acknowledge that leaders often learn as much from each other as they do from their leaders.

What is the impact?

In more than 10 countries around the world, Christian leaders are experiencing the benefit of the intentional formation that comes with undertaking Arrow. Pastors are healthier and serve longer. Christian leaders in other contexts lead with greater integrity and focus. Churches grow stronger and other organisations better fulfil their mission when they are led by Arrow leaders.

How much will it cost?

All support and curriculum resources are provided free of charge. It is hoped that all in-country costs will be covered by participants fees. Depending on the context the cost per participant will range from $US500 to $US3000. Where necessary some sponsorship may be available, on a case-by-case basis.

What is the need?

We are passionate about helping leaders become the best they can be now and onward through their leadership journey. While many of us have had the opportunity to benefit from programs such as Arrow, many leaders in the majority world have not. We long to see Arrow grow and develop so women and men everywhere have the opportunity to grow and utilise their God-given gifts.

What can I do to help?

Setting up and running Arrow in new countries requires a wide range of skills – you will definitely be able to make a contribution! If you would like to help or support the work we are doing, get in touch at julian@arrowleadership.net
